Dr Monika Nogel – HELIOS Young Researchers and Innovators Monthly (Online) Discussion Club
We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the inaugural Monthly Discussion Club. We thank Mariana Isabel Neves Delgadinho for giving an engaging talk on the topic “Analysis of the Gut Microbiome in Individuals with Sickle Cell Disease”, and everyone who participated in our discussion.
Continuing on this path, we are pleased to invite again all HELIOS members to our upcoming presentation by Dr Monika Nogel. The topic of discussion will be “Ethical Crossroads and Social Tides: Navigating the Complexities of Gene Editing for Beta Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease in the European Union.” The event will held online through the Microsoft Teams platform on the 9th of April at 2 pm CET.

Dr Gavriilaki has trained and specialized at the Hematology Department – BMT Unit of G Papanicolaou Hospital. Her clinical and translational research focused on complement-related diseases, with a special interest in thrombotic microangiopathies. Her work led to multiple national and international presentations, esteemed awards and grants, as well as publications in renowned journals. She now serves as an Assistant Professor of Hematology. She is an active advocate of early career scientists and physicians, with her participation in EHA, ASH and the current Cost Action HELIOS.
