The HELIOS network is committed to ensuring equal access to training on haemoglobinopathies for all.
The second speaker in the webinar series is Dr Kristen Howell, Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Kristen Howell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Texas A&M University. She is a chronic disease epidemiologist, with specific focuses on the transition from adolescence to young adulthood among those with Sickle Cell Disease and late effects of childhood cancer. Dr. Howell received her BS in Biology from the University of Oklahoma, MPH in Epidemiology from Emory University, and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Memphis. Before becoming a professor at TAMU, Dr. Howell worked as a Clinical Research Scientist at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She enjoys incorporating her research experiences from the hospital setting into the classroom setting to demonstrate the reach and value of the work of an epidemiologist.
