Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Training Day – Ulm, Germany

We are pleased to invite expressions of interest for a one-day Transcranial Doppler (TCD) training course, taking place on 18 September 2025 in Ulm, Germany. The training will be hosted by the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Ulm University Medical Center, represented at HELIOS by Professor Holger Cario.

This hands-on course will feature both theoretical and practical components, offering comprehensive instruction in TCD application, particularly in the context of sickle cell disease (SCD).

The training is led by Dr. Matthias Schaal, senior physician in radiology and head of the pediatric ultrasound unit, in collaboration with Dr. Wolfgang Loichinger. With over 15 years of joint experience in performing TCD in SCD, both physicians were trained by the renowned Dr. Suzanne Verlhac. They have successfully delivered five similar one-day TCD courses and bring extensive expertise to this event.
