We are pleased to announce the HELIOS Training School on Ethics, Gender, Regulation and the Use of Data, which will take place in Bari, Italy from 1–3 July 2026.
This training school will focus on key ethical, legal, and societal aspects of research in haemoglobinopathies and related fields. The event is organized within the HELIOS network, with Fondazione per la Ricerca Farmacologica Gianni Benzi Onlus as the local organizer.
The programme will provide participants with practical insights into responsible research practices, regulatory frameworks, and inclusive approaches to data use in biomedical research.
Participants will gain knowledge and practical understanding of:
EU data protection provisions, including GDPR and data privacy
Ethical considerations in genetic research and artificial intelligence
Regulatory frameworks governing biomedical research and data use
Integrating sex, gender, and inclusiveness in research and institutional practices
Responsible, transparent, and equitable approaches to research and data use
The training school is open to researchers, clinicians, and professionals working in haemoglobinopathies and related fields who are interested in strengthening their understanding of ethical, regulatory, and inclusiveness aspects of research.
Participants may choose to become members of HELIOS if they wish to be eligible for reimbursement through the network.
